Team Ageno emerged victorious in the 2025 All-Star Women’s Basketball Tournament, defeating Team Akamwada 52-48 in a nail-biting finale held at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Saturday.
This thrilling win marked Team Ageno’s successful defense of their title, and they have proved their mettle once again.
The game was a real cliffhanger, with Team Akamwada leading 48-47 with just one minute left to play.
However, Magret Bagala’s crucial steal and subsequent free throw conversion turned the tables in Team Ageno’s favor, putting them in the lead.
Fidauce Namuleme then nailed the coffin for Team Akamwada by converting three throws after being fouled, securing the win for Team Ageno.
Sarah Ageno, the captain of JT Jaguars, was deservedly voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. Her outstanding performance helped Team Ageno take home the bacon – the top prize of three million Uganda shillings, while Team Akamwada took home two million shillings.
But the excitement wasn’t limited to the court as King Saha and Vinka brought the house down with their electrifying performances to the fans.
The crowd went wild as they belted out their hit songs, adding an extra layer of excitement to the already charged atmosphere.
