On Monday, July 29, retired Anglican Bishop Zac Niringiye experienced a brutal attack while jogging in Ntinda. The assault left him with head injuries but fortunately, he managed to escape further harm.

The incident occurred around noon when a gang of unidentified individuals on a bodaboda (motorcycle taxi) targeted Dr. Niringiye.

Eyewitnesses recounted seeing one assailant deliver a powerful jumping kick, causing the Bishop to fall and lose his belongings, including his phone.

Following the incident, Dr. Niringiye has shared an update on his health status through a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

On Monday, July 29 at about 12 noon I was violently assaulted. I thank the people who took me to hospital & the medics who attended to me.

My brain is well. I’m recovering from injuries; physically, mentally & emotionally strong. This is Uganda! Let’s all work for a better future!
