Former Arsenal and Barcelona star Cesc Fàbregas recently found himself in the middle of a social media mix-up after former AIGP Asan Kasingye shared a misattributed quote on X (formerly Twitter).

Kasingye’s post claimed that Fàbregas had compared Chelsea’s rising talent Cole Palmer to Arsenal’s star player Bukayo Saka.

In the post, Kasingye attributed a statement to Fàbregas, suggesting that Palmer could only secure a starting spot at a Premier League club like Manchester United or Tottenham, whereas Saka would walk into any team “in the universe.” Kasingye concluded with: “Yes sir. Debate closed!”

The post quickly attracted attention, with fans debating the validity of the comparison between the two young English talents.

However, Fàbregas was quick to clear the air. Quoting Kasingye’s post, he responded:

The danger of social media is people really believe anything they read. No need to compare players, England are lucky to have two amazing talents, just enjoy them!
