Artist manager and football player Agent-turned-politician Hon. Geoffrey Kayemba Solo urged Ugandan soccer stars always to stay hungry and ambitious if they dream of plying their trade in high-profile football clubs.

The shadow cabinet Sports Minister who has dealt with many soccer players, explained that several Ugandan soccer stars can make it to big clubs if they stay focused and disciplined in their profession.

He urged the fresh talents on the national team (Uganda Cranes) not to get drunk on fame and the limelight based on the impressive performances that they recently put up during the AFCON qualifiers.

Among the stars who have put up outstanding performances include Jude Ssemugabi, Allan Okello, and Dennis Omedi. He advised them not to drop their guard and to stay hungry for more.

The first thing I urge soccer players is to always stay hungry and ambitious during their playing period. If you’re earning $50k today just stay positive that the next time you could earn $150k plus. Stay hungry and work extra hard, be disciplined, and don’t pity yourself.

Hon. Kayemba Solo disclosed how he has profited from being a player agent having worked with the likes of Emma Okwi, Khalid Aucho, Godfrey Walusmbi, Derrick Nsibambi, and Yasser Mugerwa among others from different nations.

He disclosed how he currently has a 12-year-old player signed with PSG and also explained why Ugandan players sometimes fail or last a short stint in professional football.

He also revealed that he started as a player agent in 2009 before rubbing shoulders with ex-Man City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson in 2013 on football-related deals in Dubai.
