Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC continue to prove that they’re still the giants in the game of women football, with others trying to set ground to challenge for the 2024/25 title, the Valley warriors win the maiden finance Trust Bank Women player and coach of the month.
On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Finance Trust Bank, the official sponsor of the women’s league, presented the October awards.
At their main branch in Kampala (Twed Plaza), Finance Trust Bank has awarded Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC duo for the coach and player of the month award.
The Valley warriors head coach Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi and custodian Josephine Nambuya named the best coach and player of the month of October and the best coach and player respectively and each pocketed UGX 500,000 as the cash prize.
Khalifah beat off the competition from Amus WFC coach Faridah Bulega and Lady Doves tactician Meddy Nyanzi on the coach’s accolade.
His team played and won all four games in October without conceding any goal and scored eight goals.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya was named the best player of the month.
Nambuya beat her teammate Agnes Nabukenya and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC’s Auki Kigongo.
Nambuya kept four clean sheets in four games in October and helped her team win all of them. She also pocketed UGX 500,000.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC currently top the table with 13 points from five games, remaining undefeated.
It is believed that the league’s sponsor will continue to host monthly awards, a new package not initially included in the sponsorship deal.
The Finance Trust Bank head of Marketing and corporate Affairs, Percy
Paul Lubega revealed to this website that they shall continue awarding the winners even those of Elite league not forgetting the dedicated journalists who cover the women football.
The event was graced by FUFA EXCOM Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi and FUFA competitions director, Hajjat Aisha Nalule.
