In their move to impact more sports knowledge in school administrator and leaders at different levels of sports management in schools, Uganda Secondary School Sports Associations [USSSA] came up with a short course dubbed Sports Management and Administration.
The Inaugural edition came in January 2025, and the three-days residential course climaxed today (Saturday) at Kibuli SS Kampala and over 100 administrators from all the regions of Uganda were awarded certificates.
The leaders and administrators from both, Uganda Secondary School Sports Associations and Uganda Primary Schools Sports Associations attended the course that covered a number of topics including; sports Administration, Facilities management and maintenance, communication skills, sports governance, safe guarding among others topics.
112 participants from 19 zones have received their certificates and the closing ceremony was graced by Assistant Commissioner of Sports in Ministry of Education and Sports, Summy Odongo who has urged the participants to put in action of what they have acquired from the three days course.
USSSA Executive committee members present were Kyolaba Grace Viola, Muhumuza, Alweny Alice, Apolot Godliver, Boithola Francis Ocukune and Langa Geoffrey.

The Guest of honor at the closing ceremony was Odong Sammy ,Assistant Commissioners ,Physical Education and Sports.
“I want to urge you to use the knowledge gained from here to promote talents not to prioritize money. as the Ministry, we are ready to support school’s sports for its growth and development in the country.” Sammy Odong.
UPSSA president, William Bwambale thanked USSSA for organizing such impactful courses and he has promised to put in action of what they have learned.
“I want to appreciate the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association for giving an opportunity to UPSSA Officials to train in Sports administration and management, our partnership with USSSA has developed us in short time and I promise that we’re going to implement what we have learnt.” William Bwambale, UPSSA President.
According to head of Capacity Building in USSSA, Patrick Okanya, they’re still having more capacity building course in the same area and the next batch will report at Kibuli on Monday.
