The Secondary Schools Sports governing body in Uganda, USSSA is still on course of impacting sports management and administration knowledge into administrators at different levels and the second batch of trainees received their certificates today (Thursday) at Kibuli SS.
The three-days course was attended by delegates from different districts of central Uganda and Bunyoro zone,and each district was represented by five members, two primary schools representatives and three for Secondary schools.
The training that was held between 20th and 23rd January has attracted 152 participants.
“We had 76 primary representatives and 76 secondary, from different zones. They have been taken through 10 different modules which included Safe guarding, finance management among others. It’s my request that when they go back, they ensure to put what you have learnt into practice.” Kyolaba Viola Grace.
The participants got knowledge from ten topics that included; Facilities management, communication and media, Branding for School sports, safeguarding, finances in sports, sports governance and others and they confessed that they were ignorant about many aspects in their dockets.
“Before this training we have been doing many things thinking that they were right yet they were wrong. Now we pledge that we are going to correct them until we get it right.” Mugerwa Julius participant representative from Nansana Zone.
“I’m delighted to have attended this enriching course, which has equipped us with essential knowledge and skills in sports administration.” Sserugo Wilberforce, Mukono Secondary Sports Association general secretary and director of Latifah Mixed School Kabimbiri states.
“The ten modules were comprehensive and beneficial. I extend my gratitude to the USSSA management for organizing this initiative. We promise to cascade the knowledge gained to our districts and schools, working closely with games teachers to enhance the sports experience. Our goal is to nurture a new generation of sports enthusiasts, ensuring a brighter future for Ugandan sports.” He commended USSSA.
The guest of honour, Ddembe Hajarah (Principal Education Officer in the department of Physical Education and Sports) who represented the Commissioner, Rev. Dr. Duncans Mugumya also asked the participants not to sit on the knowledge they have acquired but to share it widely to others.
“Your enthusiasm for the potential impact of this training is contagious. Encouraging participants to share their knowledge with others will indeed help build a strong administrative structure.”
This kind of training is cutting across all the regions of Uganda and other training centres includes; Gulu and Jinja.
