Uganda Secondary Schools Boys football national champions, St Julian High School Seeta, Mukono District champions, Mukono Kings and Latifah Mixed SS Kabimbiri and Dynamic Secondary School (District semi finalists) will start their District qualifications on round of 32 following the draws held on Friday 28th, February at Mukono Kings High School.
The green tickets for the schools to start their journeys at around 32 follow their performances in the last year’s (2024) where the four teams emerged as the semi finalists of the District and during the draws, at least sixty eight (68) schools turned up for the draws which forced the committee and games teachers available to honor and respect them hence accepted to start from round of 32.
“We are not doing this to favor certain Schools but we are just creating competition as teams should work hard to be among the top four. Also, this is done because we are giving other schools opportunities and also follow some FUFA and CAF rules”. Said Stephen Kitooke, the chairperson of Mukono District Secondary Schools Sports Associations
“We are going in these games, but let’s not attack our fellows. Let’s not bring and field none bonified students to play in the games, I request you teachers, let’s leave this game to students”. Added Stephen Kitooke, the chairperson of Mukono District Secondary Schools Sports Associations
Schools drawn at round of Sixty four stage will start their qualification journey on Saturday 8th and climax on the following day, Sunday 9th March 2025 at Sixteen different venues in Mukono District.
After this round (R64), the top twenty eight (28) schools will be joined by the four (4) and hence drawn on round of Thirty Two (32) in Eight (8) groups of Four (4) each and compete for 16 slots.
“We are using this format because it made us wonders as we were able to get back to top as our representative in St Julian High School Seeta was able to bring back the lost glory as they crowned champions of Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Associations U20 Boys football”. Said, Wilberforce Sserugo who is the secretary for Mukono District Secondary Schools Sports Association.
Eight (8) Schools from Mukono will represent the district at the Mukono Zonal qualifiers which will be hosted by Kayunga District. Top Four performing Schools will later represent the zone at national championship.
2025 U20 Boys football national championship will be hosted by Eastern Region at Ngora High School
