The Buganda Regional League side, Bugerere United is to continue using the name Uganda Sports Arena FC for the second consecutive season.
For starters, Bugerere United, a Kayunga District based club, took over the control of Uganda Sports Arena FC that was based in Busiika and last season, the club played in the same name with expectations of changing to Bugerere United since the team switched to Kayunga District.
However, due to change in FUFA rules and regulations concerning the name changing, Bugerere United to continue using Uganda Sports Arena FC for at least more other six months before changing.
According to this season’s grouping, Uganda Sports Arena FC was changed to Sezibwa group from Katonga where it featured from last season. In the same line, Kayunga TC FC will also continue playing in the names of Synergy FC also in Sezibwa group. Both teams come from Kayunga Town and this is expected to be a high level derby in this group.
In the stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday in Kampala, Buganda Regional League CEO, Brian Ssejjemba confirmed the dates for the kick off of the new season 2024/25.
“The Buganda Regional League 2024-25 Season is tentatively expected to kick off on Wednesday 23rd-October. We anticipate a more organised season, We have heard all your concerns and promise to handle accordingly.” Said CEO.
Andrew Kaweesa the chairman Buganda Region chairman appreciated all the stakeholders for investing in the game,
“I will not get tired of appreciating you for investing in the game.”
“Thank you for walking this journey with with us if we look back from where we started we can not fail to thank God.”
“I urge all football stakeholders to enroll for football courses because it’s the only way to go.”
26 teams will take part in this year’s 2024-25 Buganda Regional League debutants Masaka Sunshine FC and Nantabulirwa FC will play in Katonga and Ssezibwa groups respectively.
Relegated Kyetume FC will play in Ssezibwa Group.
