Forget about Hasifa Nassuna, Sandra Nabweteme at their early days, the Goldstar FC and Amus College School fresh kid, Faith Akol quick to storm the podium and the month of April proved her worth.

The official women football leagues sponsors, Finance Trust Bank held a press briefing at their head office at Twed Plaza-Kampala on Friday to award the best performers in the month of April both in Super and Elite League. 

At the event that was graced by Finance Trust Bank head of Marketing Percy Paul Lubega, FUFA deputy CEO in charge of football, Decolas Kiiza saw Makerere University WFC duo, Goldstar FC forward and St Noa Girls FC tactician winning big. 

Forget about Hasifa Nassuna, Sandra Nabweteme at their early days, the Goldstar FC and Amus College School fresh kid, Faith Akol quick to storm the podium and the month of April proved her worth. 

The Goldstar FC forward and the current Finance Trust Elite League top scorer with 13 goals voted the best player for the month of April, she beat off the competition from the second league top scorer and Asubo Ladies FC goal poacher, Miriam Ayoo and Kawempe Muslim LFC/URA FC versatile player, Belinda Hope Nabawanuka. 

Akol scored seven goals and won two player of the match accolades in the month of April.

In a stunning display of collective and individual brilliance, Makerere University WFC walked away with the two top accolades, Coach of the Month and Player of the Month cementing their stature as one of the most formidable sides in the league.

Head Coach Ndawula Fred was honored with the Coach of the Month award after guiding his team to two victories in April.

Despite a narrow loss to Amus College, Ndawula’s tactical acumen and leadership propelled the university side to a strong run, earning him well-deserved recognition.

But it was forward Namuleme Zainah who truly stole the spotlight. Named Player of the Month, Zainah netted an impressive six goals in just three matches, including a memorable haul against Wakiso Hill where her side put six to none against relegated Wakiso.

Jimmy Kintu, head coach of St. Noa Girls, was recognized for a stellar run that saw his team win three and draw one out of four games, conceding just once during the entire stretch.

In addition to honoring players and coaches, the event also recognized excellence in sports journalism.

Sharifah Nambi from NTV and Solomon Saaka of NBS TV received the Journalist of the Month accolades, highlighting the critical role media plays in promoting women’s football.
