The 2024/25 Finance Trust Women Elite league officially commenced over the weekend and Asubo Ladies FC headlined the kick off.
The Super League relegated side Asubo Ladies FC proved that they are serious upon returning to where they belong come next season after hammering Goldstar Ladies FC 5-0 on Sunday at Kampala Quality Stadium.
For starters, Asubo finished last season while hosting their home games at Kawanda SS, but after the renovation of their original home, they have returned to the stadium where they are very threat to the opponents.
In their 5-0 victory against Goldstar Ladies FC, Teddy Nyafono was on target twice, Arach Phiona, Miriam Ayoo and Naigaga Patricia were also on target and on match day one, Asubo scored the most goals with a clean sheet.
Kawempe Muslim/URA Women Football Club on Saturday beat Royal Dreamers 2-0, thanks to Vanessa Namazzi penalty and Cynthia Kirenga strike that won the side the maximum points.
In other fixtures, Isra Soccer Academy used Lydia Namasuka’s brace to beat She Geme 2-1 at Highland SS ground in Kisaasi, the consolation for the visitors came from Atuhaire Susan.
Pabo United and High Way Ladies FC shared points with a one all stalemate, Doreen Namboozo scored for High Way before Akello Marryline converted to salvage a point for the hosts.
In Gulu, Sacred Heart beat Ateker Women Football Club 1-0, thanks to Inzikuru lone strike.
