Since the inception of the consistent monthly awards in Uganda, the real Stars Awards, a male badminton player has never won an accolade until the month of October of 2024. 

Augustus Owiny won his first national accolade after beating off the competition from Fadilah Shamika and Tracy Naluwooza. 

The three-gold medalist, Augustus became the first male badminton player to win the Fortebet real stars monthly Award, since 2018, it has been ladies winning, the likes of; Tracy Naluwooza, Fadilah Shamika and Kobugabe Husina not forgetting Sarah Nazziwa (para player).

To win the accolade, the 24 year Old Victoria University Business Administration Student claimed three gold medals at the concluded City Tyres East African Badminton Championship.
He won the singles medal beating Reagan Nsubuga 2-0.
He went on to claim the doubles after pairing with Muzafaru Lubega.
He was also part of the team that clinched the nations medal at the tournament.
He defeats Fadilah Shamika who won gold in the women singles category. 

After recieving his accolade on Tuesday at Lazo Restaurant Kololo, Augustus revealed that winning the Fortebet Real Stars Award was part of his dreams that is finally fulfilled.

“It’s my pleasure to win this accolade, my first time to be here but this has been part of my dream, I can say the dream has been fulfilled and I believe it’s the start for me to win more accolades, I am also eyeing that of USPA.” Confident Augustus told this media. 

On the same day, the son to Captain Mike Mukula, Mike Mukula Junior won the accolade for rally after outplaying the competition from Jas Mangat and Ronald Ssebuguzi.

The Driver and his co-driver Kiyingi went to Rwanda for Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally where they finished second.
The position lighted the team’s chances of claiming the Africa Rally Championship category two.
This will make Mukula the second Ugandan to claim the ARC category two after Yasin Nasser.

In football, it was the on form Allan Jolly Okello, the Uganda Cranes and Vipers SC midfielder beat the contest from Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC custodian, Josephine Nambuya and Seiri Arigumaho.

Okello who had a brace for Vipers yesterday in Mbarara City, He scored three goals for his club Vipers in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

He was part of the Uganda Cranes that played the South Sudan double header in the AFCON Qualifier, putting up a goal and assist in South Sudan.
