“We have over 51 universities that have confirmed to participate in this year’s edition of the Eastern Africa University Games – Maseno and we are expecting to have over 4000 students participating in this year’s edition.”
The 12th edition hosted in Uganda at Ndejje University – Luweero District Uganda, had a number of challenges not sparing the accommodation, distance from the village to the playing grounds among others, Lisa had this to comment.
The previous event had a few technical and managerial issues that we are working so hard to avoid in this edition.” Lisa stated.
“Some of the issues from the last edition were basically concerning the accommodation, meals, and playing pitches being far from the games. My promise to all participants is that we shall have good accommodations (all athletes shall be given bedsheets and, blankets among others, and then we shall accommodate them in well-furnished hostels), Meals (the Local Organising Committee has promised to serve the best food for the athletes and shall all be missing local cuisines from all the participating countries and we shall have multiple serving points around the games village), and lastly for the playing grounds, Maseno University is rich in terms of space sports activities, so all games shall be played around the university with only Swimming and athletics to be played in Kisumu.”
The theme for the 13th edition is; “Harnessing Regional Integration Through Sports Excellence”.
The Universities that have confirmed to represent Uganda include; the last edition’s Overall winner, Ndejje University, Makerere University, MUBS, IUIU, Kyambogo University, MUST, Uganda Martyrs University, Busitema University, Mountain of the Moon University,UCU, Kampala University, Bugema University, Gulu University, Bishop Stuart University, Muni University, Kampala International University.
