One of the historical clubs in the Uganda’s football, Kampala Capital City Authority football club official initiated a soccer academy last year in August and since then, the numbers (kids) have been growing at an accelerating rate.
Like any other grassroots football school, KCCA Soccer Academy holds weekend and holiday programmes for the kids to get more football skills and understanding.
As it’s their norm since they came into existence in 2024, KCCA Soccer Academy holds the end of programme one day soccer gala where they invite various academies to have a football challenge, this Friday at their home, Phillip Omondi Stadium-Lugogo have held a one day gala that attracted two more academies in Proline FC and City Soccer Academy.
Over one hundred kids competition today in five different age categories [U9,12,14,15 and U17].
This holiday programme ran for three weeks and the boys and girls have been getting football skills and knowledge as one of the academy coaches and former KCCA FC skipper, Habibu Kavuma states in his speech.
“We have been here for three weeks impacting football skills and knowledge in you kids.” He stated. “At this level of yours, it’s all about acquiring skills, knowledge, have the endurance and discipline, winning is part of the game but at this stage you must focus much on skills.” He added while giving his speech at the mini awarding ceremony held before the kids and their parents.
Proline FC and Academy director, Mujib Kasule was among the top dignitaries who spent the whole day at the venue.
Once kids train and don’t play with their fellow kids, they lack some ingredients of the game, they need to play with others, and get exposure, skills and learn from each other, so we are happy that KCCA has organised this and gives the kids platform and indeed they have expressed their abilities and I am so happy for this.” Proline Academy director, Mujib Kasule.
According to the club Pro, Moses Magero, the academy always hold weekend programmes for day scholars.
