21-year-old Kirikou Tuhame started making music as something he loved. “I can’t go a day without music. When making music, I always want to be true to myself and the art.”
While making his two-song project Land Of The Free, he worked with Kwezi Ruhinda Solomon who directed, shot, and directed the visuals.
For him, it is a song that hits home as he invested a lot of his love for Uganda, yearning to expose the injustices from the 18th November 2020 riots.
I remember sitting at home and having all the thoughts I conveyed in the song. These were true feelings I had about the system and my country.
One of the things that sparked this frustration was the riots that occurred on my birthday; November 18th 2020 where multiple people were killed and injured.
He put his feelings in the music and hopes other people resonate with it.
On the video, he came up with a concept visualisation of blood on his white T-shirt to show how whatever he was rapping about.
“That’s what the symbolism about it. I really hope people can be touched by it.”
