Singer Nina Roz, real name Nina Kankunda, eyes a parliamentary seat in the forthcoming 2026 general elections on the National Unity Platform card.

Often, she has been asked if her political ambitions will not cast a shadow on her music career which has been the case for most artists who switch to politics.

While speaking to Sanyuka TV, Nina Roz noted that her music career is still standing and will not be affected by politics.

She is, however, willing to pause it for a moment – if need be – just to pursue a political career, to fix a few things she believes she can fix in the country.

Nina Roz argues that even music deserves a conducive environment to prosper and she believes she is the right person to ensure that comes to reality.

She is also emphatic about this being a calling in her life that she cannot say no to.

My career is still standing. It is very much alive, When people entrust you with new responsibilities, you have to go. If it’s a calling, you can’t say no. I am doing this for the people, am very okay even if music halts and we first fix this country because even the industry prevails in a better environment

She also noted that the artists who were sent to the parliament were compromised and some have not been given opportunities to share ideas so she wants to be the ray of hope for artists in the next parliament.
