International University of East Africa (IUEA) salvaged a point off Muni University in the Pepsi University Football League encounter honored on Friday at Muni University Grounds.
Almost the three points were in the hands of the hosts but substitute, Bob Bayiga stole the show in the stoppage time of the match to win the visitors a point.
Via a well converted penalty in the 77th minute, Muni University took the lead but it was cancelled later in the fourth minute of the added six after the 90 with a spectacular free kick from Bob Bayiga.
The first stanza saw both sides settle for a barren stalemate with the visitors missing a number of clear scoring chances.
The same happened in the opening minutes of the second stanza and before he was substituted with Dak Kueth Diu, Mubiru Paul went on target but Assiimwe Guard pulled out a reflex to deny the visitors.
In the 76th minute, the hosts won a penalty following a foul against Jaweyambe Benjamin in the area, though it was contested by the visitors’ technical bench, centre referee, Angufindru Francis awarded it to the hosts and calmly Agenonga Francis pressed the ball at the back of the net.
In the fourth minute of the added six, IUEA won a free kick few meets away from the center arc, with a unique technique, super sub, Bob Bayiga put the ball at the top corner of the net to send the visitors in crazy celebrations.
This goal was scored against Sunday Julian who represented injured custodian, Assiimwe Guard.
The point moved IUEA to second position on the group E table, four points in two matches, two behind the table leaders, Uganda Martyrs University.
The league will continue on Sunday with a super action between Islamic University in Uganda and defending champions Nkumba University.
