Nkumba University put five past ISBAT University to give them a clearance reminder that they’re the defending champions of the Pepsi University Football League.
Kavuma Abbey, Mukiibi Saadi, Ismael Lubega, Kagimu Marvin and Komori Joshua made Nkumba a five star University in an encounter honoured on Tuesday at Kanyanya playground.
In their previous encounter at Kanyanya, ISBAT University secured their maiden point of the season coming into the Nkumba match thinking that they can get another point against the defending champion. And indeed they started the match well with the control of the game.
However, Nkumba got five minutes of madness where they changed the flow of the match, the defending champions got three goals in space of five minutes, between the 15th and 20th minute of first stanza.
Kavuma Abbey handed the visitors a lead with a far post strike in the 15th, two minutes later, Mukiibi Saadi doubled the lead before Ismael Lubega scored straight from the corner kick to make it three for the visitors in the 20th minute.
After that moment of madness, the hosts lost bearings in the following ten minutes and in the 32nd minute, Kagimu Marvin made it four for Nkumba with a goal poacher’s finish. The first stanza ended 4-0.
Komori Joshua who was also on the score sheet in a 2-0 home victory for Nkumba against Busitema University sealed the 5-0 win for Nkumba in the 73rd minute.
The encounter was typically a one sided match, apart from playing ball in the middle of the park, ISBAT wasn’t a threat to Nkumba.
The win moved Nkumba to the top of the table with 10 points, two above the second placed IUIU.
ISBAT will end this edition’s campaign on road against Busitema University while Nkumba will be at home hosting IUIU.
The league shall continue tomorrow (Wednesday) with a must watch encounter as Kampala University hosts Bugema University at Yes Center Arena.
