The Pepsi University Football League started to take shape peeping on the varsities that are serious at making it to the last eight. 

Ndejje University registered a maiden home win this season after beating Victoria University 1-0 on Tuesday at the Arena of Vision in Bombo. 

Like he did in their opening fixture of the season, Ebasu Clement is the man who stood tall for the side to register their second win of the season.

Ebasu converted from the penalty spot rebound in the 83rd minute to secure the three points for Ndejje University against a ten-man but resilient City boys from Victoria University. 

The an end to end encounter started at a high tempo with Ndejje creating a number goal scoring opportunity but too blunt before the goal mouth. 

Nfumu Yusuf, arguably the best player on the day, stood tall on all occasions when Victoria University surrendered to go down, the custodian made at least three crucial and classic saves in the first stanza to keep the game level before the break. 

In the first stanza, Victoria University had one crucial moment to go up but Ocen Fred, the hosts’ custodian was equal to the challenge in the 43rd minute.

The centre referee sent the game into halftime break when it’s square. 

The notable moments came in the last 20 minutes of the match starting with the controversial penalty awarded to Ndejje University following a foul committed on Ssemakula Frank in the 72nd minute. 

According to centre referee, Kasolo Huzaifa, Victoria University custodian, Nfumu Yusuf contacted Ndejje’s forward, Ssemakula Frank in the area to which, Victoria’s boys hugely contested and it took at least ten minutes before accepting the penalty to be taken. 

Since the match was live on Bukedde Two TV, Victoria University players especially their skipper Kisuule Jackson asked the referee to review the move on TV to which he denied. 

In the 83rd minute, Ebasu Clement took the penalty that was saved by Nfumu Yusuf but scored via a rebound for Ndejje to take the lead. 

Kisuule who felt that they were cheated in the broad daylight, he confronted the fourth official after the penalty was taken and he was handed a red card in the 85th minute.

The win moved Ndejje University to seven points, now topping group B, Victoria University remained on one point in three matches. 

The league will resume on Wednesday with a do or due encounter between YMCA Comprehensive and St Lawrence University at Buwambo campus.
