All-female duo K&K Music have been summoned by police on accusations of libel.
The duo, formerly under the Theron Music management as Kataleya and Kandle, is accused of spreading gossip, rumors, or other untruths that negatively impact a person’s reputation.
K&K Music, however, claim they have been receiving threats from unidentified individuals threatening them since they returned from their hiatus.
In a statement released by K&K Music, the duo further claims that some music promoters have been threatened against booking them for music shows.
All this, according to the duo’s claims, has been done illegally without formal summons from police issued.
They are now happy that a legal police summon has been issued and they are willing to oblige to it so that they can get to the end of the ongoing battles with the yet-to-be-revealed complainant.
Below is their statement in full:
Our dear fans
Today the police issued legal summons to Kataleya & Kandle (us), based on accusations of libel vide Ntinda SD REF: 85/25/01/2024
Firstly, we have been receiving calls & texts from unidentified individuals who made many unlawful threats to us. Some were illegally holding out as Music Promoters desiring to book us for shows in Masaka.
However, according to our understanding, we should have received formal Police summons prior to being, intimidated, tracked & receiving threats.
Since those who issued threats & tried to track us using CMI (army) and Flying Squad were unsuccessful in their attempts, they have now turned to legal and lawful measures.
A thing we applaud!
We assure our cooperation and will present ourselves to the legitimate police authorities to truthfully provide a statement regarding the malicious allegations against us by our accusers in a futile bid to intimidate us and stiffle our legitimate music business and livelihood. Once provided with the Particulars of the complainants’ allegations we intend to cooperate with the authorities and make a statement regarding the issue.
Kindly pray for us.
