President Yoweri Museveni has appointed celebrated musician Eddy Kenzo as the Senior Presidential Adviser on Creatives.
Kenzo’s new role is expected to bring much-needed attention and development to the industry, addressing concerns that have lingered for years.
Kenzo’s partner, Phiona Nyamutoro, who serves as the Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development (Minerals), took to social media to celebrate his achievement.
Congratulations on your well deserved appointment @eddykenzoficial, proud of you as always ❤️. Thank you H.E @KagutaMuseveni.
Kenzo’s appointment comes at a much needed time for the creative sector. Many in the industry are advocating for the amendment of the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Act of 2006.
This legislation, many believe, could address numerous challenges faced by creatives and ensure a fair playing field for artists to benefit from their intellectual property.
