The 12th edition of the Kabaka birthday run will be happening this Sunday, the 6th of April 2025.
With days coming closer to one of the most festivities to mark the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s 70th birthday, St Mark Schools Kayunga is one of many educational institutions that have shown readiness to take in the event.
On Tuesday, 1st April, under the leadership of the school director, Aaron Bukenya, students and school administrators traveled from Kayunga to Bulange Mengo to buy the running kits for the 12th Kabaka birthday run.

“When Ssabasajja Kabaka has an initiative, it is an order, and so because we are humble, we decided to come and take part in the 2025 Kabaka birthday run. And because we are leading students who young, we are mandated to take part in it”. Said, Aaron Bukenya, the director of St Mark Schools.
School director was joined by school administrators, head teacher, deputy, and director of studies alongside students.
St Mark Schools Kayunga bought over fifty (50) running kits, and they will be taking part in the 12th Kabaka birthday run.
On the same day, under the leadership of their director (Mike Kironde), Janan Schools bought running totaling to 10 million Uganda Shillings.
St Mark Schools were started in 2010 when director Aaron Bukenya met with 80 mothers from Wanteete Village Kayunga, his childhood village, and they asked him to start a school. They enlisted him as an example of a good education, and they mentioned that their children were taking a long walk of 3 mile to the nearest school.
Driven by this injustice, St Mark Schools journey and a Junior School was started in 2011 with 2 teachers and 100 learners. Currently, the school has kindergarten, junior, and high school.
