Born in 2005, Sarah Babirye, the twin who currently the heart of Asubo Ladies FC, a side the features in the Finance Trust Women Elite League.
Playstation games in modern day life turn the youth very lazy but with Sarah, it’s a different story because the playstation games inspired her to play football.
“I was inspired to play football when I was young, Growing up,my family was always watching and playing games and from there, I admired the team work and energy of the sport.” Sarah Babirye says.
“Watching players like Messi showed me the beauty of the game, the skill,precision and heart.”
The Asubo Ladies FC team captain is an attacking midfielder who has a unique eye when it comes to spot the best location and runs of the forwards.
Babirye who continued to learn the match via playing with friends in the neighborhood.
“The passion I felt on the field pushed me to improve and stay dedicated.”
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder a knit family of six , with three siblings, two brothers and one sister and her parents are entrepreneurs like she explains.
“I come from a close knit family of six,My parents are entrepreneurs and have always emphasized the importance of education and hard work.”
Education Journey:
Sarah started her elementary school in 2008 at Sekamuli Primary School in Luweero District where she sat her PLE in 2016 before joining St Noa Girls School – Zzana in 2017 where she spent six years until 2021. At this school, the forward development much love in sciences and currently, she is pursuing a degree in Agriculture at Makerere University.
Football Journey:
Sarah had her first kick on the ball at the age of ten, besides playing the game in her room and sitting room with family members, but her brothers inspired her the more since they were playing at the school team (primary).
“I started playing football when I was 10 years old. My elder brothers would play in the school team and I would always watch from the sidelines. One day the school team coach asked me to join and even though I was nervous at first, I quickly fell in love with the game. What started a fun activity with friends became a passion.” Babirye narrates.
In her football development, Babirye credits, a one coach, Adonyo Moses who instilled football skills into her during her infant days in football.
Babirye spent two years in dynamic football club where she acquired most of the football skills.
