The Kampala region qualifiers for the 2025 USSSA boys football national championship kicked off on Monday with four matches on various grounds.
The Kawempe division champions, Kawempe Muslim SS mercilessly hammered Nakawa division representatives, Lakeside College School Luzira, 10-0 with skipper Ssekitooleko Ryan netting six.
Though they came smartly dressed in fresh out put, Lakeside wasn’t a good match for the Moses Nkata coached side, Kawempe Muslim.
In space of five minutes, Luzira had already swallowed three goals and at the end of first stanza, Kawempe was 7-0 up.
In that one match, Lakeside used three goalkeepers, the first one swallowed three before being substituted for another one who took four before the halftime break and the last one got three.
Kawempe Muslim SS who currently tops group B, whose goals on match day one was scored by skipper, Ssekitooleko Ryan (six goals), Kitiibwa Alvin, Mbaziira Fahad, Bukenya Steven, and Ssekabira Isaac were all on score sheet.
In the other fixture at Kibuli SS upper pitch, Kololo High School and Bishop Cipriano Kihangire SSS Luzira shared spoils in a four-goal thriller.
Kololo first took the lead through Asindu Isaac before Opio Noele leveled the matters, they took the lead through Ayikbua Edison but Ssebuufu Joseph went on target. The second stanza saw no goal.
At Kawempe Muslim SS grounds, Uganda Martyrs High School beat beat Old Kampala 1-0, the same score line Kibuli SS used to beat Kazo Hill at Lubiri SS.
For starters, the tournament has ten teams pitted in two groups, A and B.
Group A has; Bishop Cipriano Kihangire SSS Luzira, Kibuli SS, Kololo High School, Kazo Hill and Lubiri SS.
Group B took teams; Old Kampala SS, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga, Lakeside College School Luzira, Kawempe Muslim SS and Buziga Islamic.
The top from each group shall qualify direct to the National championship schedule to be hosted by Ngora SS in Ngora district.
The tournament climaxes on Friday this week.
