Dancehall artist Vyper Ranking opened up about his decision to leave the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF).

Vyper expressed that he felt unwelcome within the organization, prompting his exit.

In a humorous remark, Vyper Ranking suggested that Hanson Baliruno would have been a better fit for the role of Senior Presidential Adviser on Creatives, a position recently awarded to Eddy Kenzo.

“Hanson Baliruno should have gotten the role because he pretends to love the industry more,” Vyper Ranking joked, hinting at the politics within the industry.

Despite his playful comment, Vyper Ranking extended his congratulations to Eddy Kenzo on his new appointment.

However, he revealed that his departure from the UNMF was driven by deeper issues. He pointed out that there were many internal challenges within the federation, including individuals who reportedly blocked others from accessing resources.

There was a lot of division there [at UNMF], and also, I didn’t get any money from the artists’ SACCO, and I didn’t need their money either.
