Hon. Francis Zaake and Hon. Anthony Akol were involved in a physical altercation on Wednesday morning after emotions run high following the controversial National Coffee (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
Hon. Zaake had expressed concern over safety of members in the parliament alleging that some individuals who are not MPs had entered the House with guns.
After his submission, his seat had been taken over by the Kilak North MP, Anthony Akol.
An altercation started when Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake tried to displace Hon. Akol from the seat, forcing the latter to rain punches on him.
It took fellow MPs and security to break the fight and the Speaker of Parliament has since suspended twelve MPs following the scuffle.
Below are the names of the 12 MPs who are now not allowed to attend plenary for three consecutive sittings because of misconduct:
Akol, Zaake, Wakayima Musoke, Aloysius Mukasa, Charles Tebandeke., Isaiah Ssasaga, Asinansi Nyakato, Derrick Nyeko, Frank Kabuye, Ronald Evan Kanyike, Susan Mugabi and Shamim Malende.
