Finally University of Kisubi managed to get a point this season after four times of trying in the 12th edition of the Pepsi University Football League.
The Entebbe based University, came from two goals down to salvage a point at home against Muni University.
The visitors first took the lead via Lema Dickson quick successful goals in the first stanza but first half substitute,Mumbere Joel and Kamya Beckham scored in both haves respectively to rescue a point for the hosts.
The Lukoki Jessy coached side started well and got a golden chance in the opening five minutes of the first stanza but Lumu Humphrey squandered the opportunity with an over the bar strike.
The visitors resort to counter attacks and long balls that challenge a lot, the host’s defense, they first scored two offside goals that were cancelled but on the third attempt, Lema Dickson found the back of the net with a clear goal in the 12th minute before he doubled the lead two minutes later.
After conceding in the 12th and 14th minute, Jessy made a tactical change, pulled Odoi Livingston from midfield back to defense and introduced Mumbere Joel on the pitch in the 22nd, replacing Mugerwa Joshua. The change brought life in Unik’s game and with six minutes to the halftime break, the changes yielded when Mumbere found the back of the net with a hard shot from a tight angle.
In the 43rd minute, the visitors got a set back when their custodian, Sunday Julian was subbed due to an injury following a collision with Unik’s forward, Assiimwe Guard replaced him and the first stanza ended 2-1 in favor of the visitors.
Two minutes into second half, UNIK won a free kick few yards from the box and in the 48th minute, Kamya Beckham leveled the matters with a low shot free strike.
The draw left Muni University in the second place with five points collected from four played matches, UNIK still on bottom of the table of group E but now with a point.
The league shall continue tomorrow with one fixture at Kansanga where the group E table leaders, Uganda Martyrs University shall be visiting IUEA.
