Talent alone may fail to help someone to have a long lasting success in life but it has a potential to create social capital and once used well, one can be a successful individual throughout the life time.
Soccer for Life Foundation, a football Academy that is in its 10th year of existence has opted to add Vocational skills to its football scholars.
In conjunction with Enlight Vocational Institute and partners from Europe, Soccer For Life Foundation, located in Kiwanga – Bweyogerere, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District have held a one week workshop that climaxed on 1st February 2025.
“We had engagements with world coaches Uganda that use football as a tool to change life of youth in different communities. As the one week Introduction level 2 course ended today instructed by UEFA A license and KNVB instructor André Simmelink, CAF B license Jessy Lukoki and Kawungu Raymond Paul as co-instructors.” Said Jessy Lukoki, the founder of the Soccer Academy.
The course was conducted to development coaching skills and integrate them with life skills that impact life of youth players.” He added.
In this one week course, the project started with the under eight and 13 kids who gained skills in bakery.
“The U8 – U13 kids were this most beneficiaries in this project, they under went Skilling lessons of bakery that we believe can transform their lives in the future.” Lukoki said
Soccer for Life Foundation has all the understand age kids from U8-16 and according to Jessy, the Academy has over 120 kids.
