Azawi has voiced her disappointment with fellow artists for their silence during the ongoing protests against corruption and bad governance in the country.

Azawi called out her peers for not standing up for the public in these crucial times.

Azawi said that Ugandan musicians have always enjoyed support from the public, regardless of their status.

Ugandans have always supported artists, big or small, but now they are silent when the public needs them to come and raise awareness.

Azawi did not mince her words when addressing the issue of compromised integrity among musicians.

She accused them of accepting government money, which has rendered them silent and unable to speak out against the injustices faced by their supporters.

Artists ate government money; now they can’t say anything because they are compromised. Yet, when the time comes to hold concerts, they want the people to turn up for them.

Azawi’s criticism extended to the actions of musicians during their promotional campaigns.

She pointed out the irony of artists appealing to the public for support in places like downtown Kampala, Nakasero market, and Owino, asking people to buy tickets and attend their shows, yet remaining silent during social and political cries.

They come to the people for support and even go downtown – Kampala, in Nakasero market, Owino, asking people to buy tickets and come through to support, but right now they are silent.

Her frustration was particularly directed at the more prominent artists who have chosen to remain quiet.
