UCU Canons put up an enchanting show with a one point gap victory over table leaders Namuwongo Blazers handing them their maiden league loss in a 62-61 score at the Lugogo sports Arena.

A game on an equilibrium of intensity with both teams each winning two quarters, the Canons came out at the top after last minute three points throw from Marvin Jesse Okutut lifted the Mukono boys from a 59 points to a one point gap victory leaving the crowd flickered as they put an end to Namuwongo’s 16 game unbeaten run.

UCU started off a better side holding the first quarter in their hands with a 16:13 score before Namuwongo made an indispensable comeback in the second quarter with a 13:18 score.

A pliant UCU made a vital comeback in the third quarter with a 15:11 score before a slim 1 point difference in the last quarter ending in an 18:19 score as Namuwongo couldn’t add up the points difference.

Ibanda Lwabaga with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Jimmy Otim with 8 points and 2 rebounds were pivotal in the Nick Natuhereza’s side.

Micheal Makiadi the best performers of the day only registered 14 points and 5 rebounds but couldn’t relieve Namuwongo from a loss. Tonny Drileba registered 12 points and 6 rebounds.

In the other game played at Lugogo, UCU Lady Cardinals convincingly secured a 71:62 victory against JT Lady Jaguars.
