Cindy Sanyu, president of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), has voiced strong criticism against the Uganda National Musicians Federation, led by Eddy Kenzo.

The criticism centres around the government allocation of over Shs13 billion to the Federation’s SACCO.

Cindy Sanyu has demanded an investigation into the handling of these funds.

She says that although the funds were meant for the entire music industry, none of the musicians under her association received any portion of it.

When that money was released, it was announced that it was for the entire music industry. However, it only stopped in Mutundwe and the singers under my jurisdiction didn’t receive even a penny.

Therefore, I wonder what the money was for exactly. We want answers because we are also musicians who deserve to get a piece of what comes into the industry. We therefore expect the investigations to provide answers.

Eddy Kenzo responded to the allegations by pointing out that many musicians did not apply for the funds through the Federation.

He also mentioned that some of his critics had indeed received the money.
