The climax of day three of the 13th edition of the Eastern Africa University Games have identified the top four Universities in the game of football.
Three out of the four teams on semi final are from Uganda and only one Tanzanian University that managed to fit in Uganda’s football.
Day three had round of sixteen and quarterfinal matches.
The Kampala University and Makerere University match didn’t end due to poor time management and the darkness forced the match to the following day.
It ended while the two sides are at level (4-4) in penalty shootouts following a barren stalemate in the normal time.
According to the organizers, the game will resume at 8:30am with penalty shootout to determine the winner who will meet Islamic University in Uganda on semifinal.
In other matches, Uganda Martyrs University eliminated the defending champions, Bugema University on penalties (4-2) following a goalless draw in normal time.
Ardhi University also went through the same penalty shootout technique to eliminate Mountain of the Moon to become the only non-uganda University to reach semifinal.
Islamic University in Uganda wasn’t unique, it has also eliminated Makerere University Business School also in penalty shootouts.
In women’s football, Makerere University beat Kampala University 4-3 via penalty shootouts after a barren stalemate in normal time to book a meeting with Uganda Christian University who beat the hosts Maseno University 3-0 in the second semifinal.
