Kayunga Community Club marked International Women’s Day at Kayunga Central Market on Saturday, 8th March 2025, paying tribute to the vital contributions of all women market vendors in driving economic growth and grooming children well.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 8th March to commemorate women’s fight for equality and liberating along with the women’s rights movements.

This year’s celebration was held under the theme “Accelerate Action,” and in Kayunga, Kayunga Community Club also joined the rest of the world in celebrating the day.

Among the members present was Ritah Katono, who called on fellow members and women to always teach children hard work and discipline.

“Let’s always show our children the hustles we go through to get money because they can grow valuing money. Also, we need to train them the jobs we do daily and learn them because looking for jobs out there is not easy.” Stated Ritah Katono

President Kayunga Community Club thanked members for loving the community because they members can spare the little they have to give back to the communities.

“I wish to thank fellow members of the community club for accepting and always giving back to the community whenever need be and to the members of the community. Thank you so much for embracing us to join you on this day”.

“The biggest percentage of all this community club grew up in the market and so the biggest point we call stick on is to see our parents when they are happy and still a live.”

In presence was Bwogi Joseph Mpagi, the outgoing president of Kayunga Community Club who narrated the need to always celebrate such days with our parents.

“The most important reason as to why we appreciate these mothers of ours is that they groomed us very well because from here in the market where we grew up, we have gone ahead to do things which really shows that we were brought up well and lived to be a good examples”. Stated Bwogi Joseph Mpagi.

“I call upon you all to always be disciplined, and we leave a good example like how our parents have done.”

“I call upon all of you here not to have that mindset of depending on politicians, but let’s be creative and develop our communities”.

On behalf of the

Women market vendors, Ndagire Christine thanked Kayunga community club members for honoring them. 

“Many people hate giving birth to children buy for us who have been in the market because what made us wake up early in the morning is giving us fruits everyday”.

Besides awarding and donating to Women market vendors, Kayunga Community club members cleaned Kayunga central market.

Among the items donated included aprons, certificates.
