The Stanbic Black Pirates continue their impressive run with a convincing 28-13 victory over the Victoria Sharks at Kings Park – Bweyogerere on Saturday evening.
William Nkore led the charge with 13 points, while Eliphaz Emong, Roy Kizito, and Karuhanga each scored a try (5 points), combining for a total of 28 points.
The Sharks’ efforts were led by Kivumbi and Omoding, who each scored a try, and a penalty kick from Makhoha, totaling to 13 points.
This win marked the Pirates’ third victory, exposing the university-based Sharks to their second loss of the season. The Sharks had previously lost to the Jinja Hippos at Kyadondo Rugby grounds.
As usual, the Sharks started strong, with Makhoha converting a penalty kick. However, the three points were insufficient, as Elphaz Emong’s try gave the Pirates the lead.
With a four-point advantage, the Pirates denied the Sharks any further scoring opportunities, adding more tries in the second half to secure their third victory of the season
The Sharks attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, following Isaac Masangazira’s high tackle, which earned him a five-minute benching.
However, the Pirates’ defense worked tirelessly to limit the Sharks’ scoring opportunities, preventing them from taking the lead.
In other weekend encounters, Kobs found no serious hurdle to hummer the Eagles, beating the side 71-23 with Rhinos beat Mongers 40-32 to walk back home with an away sweet victory.
The league will continue next weekend and the Pirates will face the Mongers away in Entebbe, while the Victoria Sharks will be on the road to legends Rugby grounds.
