Spice Diana has joined Azawi in criticizing the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), describing it as “fraudulent.”

The UNMF, formed last year with a mission to protect artists’ rights, has seen a decline in support from its members.

Many have departed, citing delays, lost values, and unmet promises as primary reasons for their departure. Spice Diana, one of the federation’s founding members, expressed her dissatisfaction by stating that she never received any financial benefit from the organization.

She decided to distance herself from the UNMF upon realizing that its goals had shifted away from its initial focus on copyright law advocacy.

Spice Diana’s comments came in support of fellow artist Azawi, who recently criticized musicians for their silence on issues affecting Ugandans, especially corruption.

Azawi talked about the irony of artists receiving support from the public while remaining silent on critical matters troubling their fans.

She suggested that some well-to-do musicians have been compromised by the government, preventing them from speaking out.

Spice Diana acknowledged the struggles faced by Ugandans, although she admitted to lacking concrete proof of which musicians might have received government money.
