Known widely for appearing in the viral “Hozambee” video, Maria Mutoni, commonly known as Shifrah, dreams of opening her beauty salon.
D Star’s song “Hozambee” is a sensation far across the East African region. The song that started as a mere TikTok challenge is now one of the most popular tracks in the last few weeks.
In Kenya, Hozambee is a big deal with several top celebrities joining the dance challenge inspired by Shifura.
It is even being used by protestors in the ongoing protests against the Finance Bill.

While speaking in an interview on Sanyuka TV, Shifura who is now a common face on social media noted how the simple TikTok challenge might just have changed her life forever.
The Fort Portal-born revealed that she has met so many generous people since she started making public appearances who have gifted her a couple of materialistic things.
She also revealed her dream of owning a beauty salon which she plans to name; Shifrah Beauty Salon, if all goes well.
I want to become a hairdresser, and if I were to receive a scholarship, I would use it to establish my beauty salon named Shifrah’s Beauty Salon.
