The 2024 Uganda Secondary School Sports Associations [USSSA] capacity building courses climaxed on Saturday at six different venues with Lubiri SS the main venue for closing ceremony. 

In the third edition of impacting sports knowledge into games teachers and students, two more elements were included; safe guarding and Sports facilities management courses.

At least 542 participants were trained in courses like Football coaching, refereeing, netball coaching and umpiring, volleyball coaching, media and sports facilities management.

Ndejje University hosted the sports facilities management courses and 40 games teachers attended this course, Lubiri SS- Kampala, Ngora High School, Sacred Heart Gulu, Ntare School and Mary’s College Rushoroza were the other training centres.  

The official closing that was held at Lubiri ss attracted several dignitaries from Ministry of Education and Sports, USSSA and FEASSA delegation that is in Uganda for a three days workshop.

At Lubiri the training attracted 84 teachers, 111 students and non school affiliated participants totaling to 211 participants.

USSSA President, Justus Mugisha applauded the performance of the capacity building products in officiating national and international games which has improved Uganda’s ranking at the international level.

”USSSA has put it’s main emphasis on mass sport and capacity building. We are doing well upon those two fields and currently we are ranked the most active member of ISF in Africa.” Mugisha Justus , USSSA President.

Nelson Sifuna, the head of directorate field coordination and co-curricular activities of Kenya who was also the Chief Guest appreciated USSSA for organizing the program.

Participants received certificates of attendance from the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association and will receive the certificate of merit from different federations.
