Agnes Nabukenya stole the show as the Uganda under 17 women’s team (Teen Cranes) register a crushing first-leg performance against Namibia in a game played at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

The Teen Cranes ran riot, demolishing Namibia 10-0, with Agnes scoring six goals, Ariho Rinah netting twice with Isabella Winifred Blick and Kizza Joan Namulindwa each scoring once to put the team in the driver’s seat before the return leg on Sunday at the same venue.

The Teen Cranes’ win on Thursday has given them a leg up in qualifying for the next round, where they will face off with the Kenyan under 17 Ladies team.

Despite the team’s comfortable 10-goal win, many will think that the team’s performance against Namibia was not the best of the day, and many will hope to see an exciting and interesting second leg against Namibia at the same venue on Sunday, 19th January 2025.

Namibia who have slim or no chance to make it to the next level following the humiliating defeat at home away from home, the side needs to burn the midnight oil and play their cards right well if they are to record and register an impressive performance against the teens, which could be a game-changer and eliminate them from qualification.

The Uganda under 17 ladies will need to keep their noses to the grindstone and not concede above ten goals to secure their spot. Africa as a continent will be represented with five teams in the final tournament.
