The USSSA Elite Games, 6th edition set to climax, tomorrow (Sunday) at St Joseph’s of Nazareth Mpigi and last year’s defending champions in girls football, Kawempe Muslim SS staged a final with emerging force, St Noa Girls School – Zzana.
After beating Boni Concilli 2-0 in the semifinal honored on day two of the tournament at St Joseph’s of Nazareth, Kawempe Muslim SS tactician Moses Nkata is much confident that his side can defend the title they won last year because it’s the mission they went with.
The Valley Warriors, took an hard fought victory against resilient Boni, Meble Adong and Monica Nannono scored the two goals for Kawempe.
“The mission we came with was to defend the trophy and it’s still the target.” Moses Nkata told this website.
“Woth the performance the girls are putting up, I am confident they can defend the trophy, yes St Noa is scoring but even in Ndejje, it was the side with most girls in the tournament, but the Trophy is in Kawempe” He added.
Before semifinal, Kawempe Muslim thumped Sacred Heart Gulu, 7-0 with Promise Kwagalakwe scoring a hattrick, Shadia Nabirye settled for a brace, as Vanessa Namazzi and Kisakye Daniela scoring one each.
Reaching final, Kawempe scored 11 goals, conceded none and won all their four matches.
On the other hand, St Noa beat Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga 3-1 to storm final. The free scoring Sylvia Kabene again appeared on the score sheet first before Dominic Angel and Winnie Kabugho joined the party, Uganda Martyrs’ consolation came from Tuhaise Faith.
Earlier on, St Noa beat Amus College 6-0 in the last group stage fixture, Kabenge who has 12 goals in four matches scored a brace like Summayah Nalumu did the say in the fixture, Mary Awugi and Winnie Kabugho were the other notable names on the score sheet.
To reach final, St Noa scored 20 goals and conceded only three.
The replay of the 2024 USSSA ball games one girls football final is set for Sunday at 11am.
In boys football, Jinja Progressive Academy is still on the right track to defend their trophy, they beat Standard High School Zzana, 3-0 to reach final for the second consecutive year, the former is winner for the winner between, Amus College School and Bukedea Comprehensive, whose semifinal failed to be honored due to undisclosed reasons.
