Content Creation is an art form that requires lots of creativity to master. World over, platforms like TikTok have contributed greatly to the success of other art forms, especially music.

In Uganda, TikTokers have used their craft to create their unique art and have become household names and famous for their particular style of content.

Beyond TikTok, some have also ventured into other art forms including Acting, Modelling, and Singing.

On this list, we look at five Ugandan TikTokers who have also tried out singing as a career.

Biswanka

20-year-old Derrick Biswanka gained considerable fame as a TikToker who used to perfectly imitate several popular figures in the country, including comedian MC Mariachi. He got close to another popular figure Alien Skin and has since decided to capitalize on his fame to kickstart his music career.

Currently, Biswanka is considered one of the best vocalists in the local music industry with songs like Rest Of My Life, Ontunulemu, Tobigatulula, and One More Night.

Lord Elektra

Lord Elektra, real name Betinah Kyomuhangi, only joined TikTok in 2020 during the Coronavirus lockdown but managed to become one of the most-followed content creators on the app. In 2023, Lord Elektra’s Akiiki Ndeka (feat. Fyno) introduced her as a singer, a career she believes she can take on more seriously.

Mikey Seems 2 Funny

With Oli Busy (feat. Alien Skin), Kibalume, and Fire (feat. Daddy Andre), Michael Ssebamba a.k.a Mikey Seems 2 Funny’s music career has already raised his status beyond the naive TikToker whose content creation began around the Covid-19 lockdown as well.

Tom Dee

Tom Dee rose to fame in 2019 as a TikToker well-known for his comic skits about Ugandan celebrities. His TikTok challenges including dance videos introduced him to different figures in the music industry which could have influenced his decision to take on singing.

On this list, Tom Dee’s music career seems to have had the biggest influence thus far with bangers including Wantama, Tetwasoma, Banger, and Omuzabbibu dominating the airwaves.

Winnie wa Mummy

On the list, Winnie was Mummy’s music career is the freshest. After a couple of TikTok challenges, while dancing to Alien Skin’s music, Winnie attracted the attention of Alien Skin who met her in 2023, tipping her for greater things to come.

Fast-forward, Winnie wa Mummy is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the industry with her first major song “Wuhu” (featuring Mudra and DJ Horace) dominating the airwaves.
