Why UBOS has extended the census deadline

The Uganda Bureau Of Statistics (UBOS) has extended the deadline for the Census enumeration in Uganda until 25th May 2024. This extension aims to ensure that every individual is included.

Uganda commenced its enumeration period on 10th May 2024 with a ten-day target to capture the required census information across the country.

The census that was supposed to end on 19th May, however, has been extended for a longer period not exceeding 25th May 2024.

UBOS cites a few challenges experienced at the start of the enumeration as the reason behind the extension.

“Due to challenges experienced at the start of enumeration, we do not want to leave anyone behind and thus found it prudent to have an extension of the Census exercise,” UBOS tweeted on Saturday.

Those who are yet to be counted in the enumeration exercise are advised to reach out to the Local Councils and have an enumeration appointment booked.
