The USSSA Bukedea District qualifiers climaxed on Friday at Bukedea Primary School with Bukedea Comprehensive silencing the regional giant Amus College School.
At least for the past seven to eight years, Amus College has been dominating the district and the region as well until BCS surfaced on the ground.
The tournament that attracted twenty schools has climaxed on the high with Speaker of Parliament owned school, Bukedea Comprehensive School winning a double in boys and girls football while beating the same school, Amus College their immediate rivals.
In boys football, Amus first took the bragging rights after defeating Bukedea Comprehensive School North (the sister campus of the main school) 3-1 in semi final held at Boma Grounds. The younger campus reported the case to the main campus to which they hugely noted.
The main campus (Bukedea Comprehensive School South) also beat Malera Kabarwa Seed School 2-1 in the semi final two where the school’s top scorer, Asega Halid netted a brace to set a final meeting with Amus College.
Not like in the previous meetings on the district and region levels where the fixture didn’t end due to hooliganism, this final was professionally handled well and the fans enjoyed it in peace.
The highly contested encounter ended in a barren stalemate in normal time and Bukedea Comprehensive won it via spot kicks 5-4 and sent the big crowd into wild celebrations.
Meanwhile,in the first final (girls football) Bukedea Comprehensive came from a goal down to level the matters to be settled in the spot kicks.
Amus College that’s under coach Faridah Bulega first took the lead in the first ten minutes of the game but towards the final whistle, Jimmy Mukubya girls leveled through a well taken free kick.
Bukedea won the encounter 6-5 in spot kicks also to lift the trophy that has been for Amus for all years.

In the history of the school, this has been the first time Bukedea Comprehensive School trophy cabin collected a football trophy and they have started with a double.
It was all celebration at the school main campus.
The district has qualified four schools to regional championships set to be held next month in Kumi District.
The four schools includes; champions Bukedea Comprehensive School South, Bukedea Comprehensive School North,Amus College School (losing finalists) and Malera Kabarwa Seed School.
The USSSA national championships are set to be held in May at Bukedea Comprehensive School and Ngora.
